The Mighty 11u Boys Team SILVER earned the first trophy for the Atlanta Select Basketball organization for the 2010/11 season. This team, coached by Coaches Baskerville and Christopher, won the championship in the Georgia Tar Heel's October Hoopfest 2010 Tournament.
This team (when they were 10u)won seven trophies last season, more than any other Atlanta Select team. It appears that they are on a roll to repeat this feat for the 2010/11 season. A key to their success is that all of the players, for the last several years, attended the Atlanta Select Skills Development training in the Fall when they were not participating in tournaments. We are proud of their success as individual players and as a team. Isaiah Gaddy was selected as MVP for the tournament.
By the way two additional trophies were earned by Atlanta Select teams at the same tournament. The 14u Boys Team BLACK 8732 (Coaches G. Stewart and Gates)won the championship playing up in the 15u bracket by edging the 14u Boys Team WHITE North (Coaches Vincent and Jay Bee Brown)in the championship game. Thus, a total of 3 trophies have been earned for the organization for the new season. The goal for the organization is 100 trophies by September 1, 2011. We are well on our way. Go Select and congratulations to all.

The mighty Atlanta Select 15u Boys Team RED held its annual banquet (Sunday, September 26, 2010) celebrating their extremely successful 2009/10 Youth Basketball season that culminated in winning a National Championship. The team, coached by Coach Dionne Mason, participated in the YBOA Divsion II Nationals earning the Championship in the Consolation division.
Last season, the team participated in tournaments all over the southeast displaying their talents in Invitational, AAU, USBA, NAYBA and YBOA tournaments. The team, in June, won the championship at Atlanta Select "Warm Up for the Nationals" tournament, thus displaying, that they were thoroughly prepared to compete at the national level at the national tournaments in Florida during July.
During the season the team conducted numerous fundraising activities, practiced several times each week and played in tournaments nearly every weekend during the peak periods of April, May and June. Their hard work and determination to do well at the Nationals, paid off. The team can be justifiably proud of their accomplishment.
Atlanta Select salutes the mighty 15u Boys Team RED for bringing another national championship trophy to the organization. Go Select!
